What Ms. Mabel said

Tue Sep 22, 2009, 4:20 PM
so...nurse. lawl. Yup, that's what I'm taking college. And it will definitely eat up my free time. I hope I'll be able to resume on making art after this semester ends.

sooo....

yeah. Anatomy. Drawing for anatomy books. Anyone up for me posting some anatomy drawings? I'm thinking about doing one to help me memorize all of this anatomy stuff, like make a mnemonic device. Probably even make it all steampunk and Da Vinci-fied (I might even write some things backwards), haha. Kind of like that Sweeney Todd art show we had back in 07-08.

Devious Journal Entry

Fri Sep 4, 2009, 4:50 PM
*sigh*

If you any of you here still care about looking at my crap, I won't be drawing for a very long time. I do have ideas of what to draw now that I am finally free from all the AP hell that was high school senior year, but now this year I'm loaded with a bunch of classes that require me to read textbooks 3 hours a day...for each class. It's really boring (especially the general ed subjects...) but it's required.

If you're still expecting any drawings from me, the only ones you'll probably see for now until the end of this semester are anatomy drawings. Ya why!? Because. Just guess what I'm majoring in.

And I'm sorry if I haven't been commenting and of you guys' artworks for a while now. I'm also sort of losing interest in DeviantART.

Correspondence from Senator Reid

Wed Jul 22, 2009, 11:38 AM
If anyone is interested, I sent this letter [link] (page 5, "Be Proactive") about college tuition that I found in Cosmogirl Magazine to our senator a long time ago and almost forgot that I still had his reply in my inbox:

Dear Ms. Salvador:

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I appreciate hearing from you.

I share your concern about the current state of the economy, and I understand what a devastating impact the economic downturn has had on Nevadans. Americans have suffered from stagnating and declining incomes, even while the costs have increased for everything from food, to health care, to college tuition. We also face a serious credit crisis that has thwarted economic growth and cost many Americans their jobs.

During the 110th session of Congress, I introduced comprehensive legislation designed to address increasing unemployment, help working families, and prevent our economy from sliding further into recession. This bill would have created hundreds of thousands of new jobs through investment in infrastructure and renewable energy projects; improved access to food stamps for families struggling to put food on the dinner table; and increased federal spending in states' Medicaid programs to help states avoid cutting social services and raising taxes. Unfortunately, my attempts to bring this bill to a vote were obstructed.

However, we have begun a journey into a new era of political change and optimism. I am pleased that Congress and President Obama have joined together to provide meaningful, long term relief for hard working Americans. It is imperative that we help struggling families, seniors, homeowners, and others deeply affected by this crisis.

While I recognize that there is a need for immediate relief from the hardships caused by this recession, we must invest in projects that will promote an economic recovery in the immediate future, while also creating the foundation for a strong economy for years to come. America must begin to rebuild itself from the inside out by directly strengthening middle class workers, instead of relying on the failed "trickle down" economic policies of the Bush administration. That is why in the package, I support significant efforts that focus on rebuilding our infrastructure and increasing our nation's energy independence. By investing in transportation infrastructure projects across the nation, up to 2 million new jobs will be created, generating $35 billion per year in new economic activity. Also, we must invest in renewable energy and energy efficiency to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and improve our environment. Nevada's renewable resources are so abundant we can lead the nation in providing affordable, sustainable, and clean energy. This will create new jobs and keep hard-earned gas money in the pockets of Nevadans and all Americans.

In terms of immediate relief, tax cuts such as the "Make Work Pay Credit," and improvements to the Earned Income and Child Tax Credits, will help put extra money in the pockets of Americans in the months to come. In addition, I am pleased to inform you that this year we have already raised the individual exemption level under the Alternative Minimum Tax, extended the deduction for tuition payments made for higher education, and extended the state and local sales tax deduction, which is the key source of tax fairness for Nevadans. Although these improvements are a step toward putting America back on track, I will continue fighting to implement broad-based tax cuts that lower the tax burden for low-income and middle-class families.

I know that times are tough in America, but I believe we can create jobs, invest in America, and emerge from this crisis stronger than we have ever been before. Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. My best wishes to you.

Sincerely,

HARRY REID

worst fanfic ever

Mon Jul 13, 2009, 11:26 PM
So since the premier of the 6th Harry Potter movie is about to come out soon, I thought this would be a nice time to finally post what is considered to be not just the worst Harry Potter fanfic to ever be made, but also as THE worst fan fiction to ever be made throughout the whole entire interwebs, with a stunning 12,000 reviews on fanfiction.net (before it got taken off due to its very awful grammar, usage, and mechanics)...mostly made up of people flaming the awful piece. So bad it's good, that it even sprouted a ton of dramatic readings on YouTube (which I will also post)!

But seriously...I don't think this person was faking it at all. Even I can't come up with something this atrocious:

Dramatic readings:

[link] (my absolute fave! This one made my stomach hurt from laughing)

[link] (the complete dramatic reading by another user. the one I linked goes up to Ch. 3, but the rest are split up to even more video parts. They can be found on the related videos box on the right)

so like...let's just say, we go by what Mr. Dokken said ("So what if you got a 2 or a 1? THAT MEANS YOU STILL SCORED BETTER THAN THOSE WHO DIDN'T EVEN TAKE AP! IT MEANS YOU STILL PASS! YOU GOT AN A!! YOU PASS THE CLASS!!!").

hopefully CSN would accept my score for my art portfolio though.
